AKAR UMBI HOUSE
Akar Umbi House is a training facility designed for private small group programmes and activities. Cosy and idyllic, the double-storey bungalow is uniquely crafted with a training hall, three meeting rooms, a dining hall, as well as sleeping quarters equipped with sleeping pods, for overnight guests. Airy and full of ambient light, the house is embellished with modern contemporary and traditional features, reflecting its grassroots nature. The facility is accessible by public transport and is a walking distance from the Paramount LRT station. Contribution to use the space goes towards the sponsorship of community empowerment projects. About Us
Akar Umbi Houses was established by SUKA Society in 2018 as a training space for its programmes related to child protection, case management, leadership development, and training for community preschool teachers. Being committed to people-development, the space is also made available to other non-government organisations, community leaders, government agencies and the general public for their closed-door events. The Akar Umbi House is also an avenue to generate funds for SUKA Society’s causes as utilization of the space goes towards sponsorship of a project. Jati
Jati is a formal meeting room that is designed to accommodate 8-10 pax at any given time. This spacious meeting room comes equipped with a projector, Chromecast and whiteboard.
Bakau
Bakau is the name for our casual, cozy and private meeting space. Equipped with bean bags, SmartTV, whiteboard and & AV facilities, this room can be flexibly used for informal and formal activities.
Meranti
Meranti is used together with Jati and Bakau to create a bigger training space. Suitable for training events with the flexibility of subdividing the space into three sections.
Cengal
Cengal is a safe and private space ideal for a conversation between two persons. Comfortable and calming, it is suitably used as a counseling room.
Nyatoh
Nyatoh is our dining space filled with ample natural light equipped with café style seating and a friendly reading space for children to enjoy. On a nice cooling day, Nyatoh opens up to a covered outdoor space with a large table and bench for additional seating.
Cengal & Gaharu
Cengal and Gaharu is our stay-in dorms with built-in Japanese-style sleeping pods for 8 pax and 4 pax respectively equipped with attached bathrooms.
